What do I mean by this? Leading with attention means knowing where me and my team are and how we are doing. It means being present and understanding the holistic ‘health’ of our work, our clients work and our contribution to this.

This requires my attention to my team and their needs, not just their tasks and assignments. My focus will not just be on what I say to them but how I sound and look when I say it, remembering every single thing I do matters.

This reminds me of a great little book I was recently gifted about the butterfly effect. The following quote reminds me of my importance as a leader.

“There are generations yet unborn whose very lives will be shifted and shaped by the moves you make and the actions you take today. And tomorrow. And the next day. And the next.

Every single thing you do matters” – Andy Andrews
